About

Who We Are

A brief history of Calvary Baptist Church and the mission that continues to guide us.

Calvary Baptist Church has been in Charlotte, Michigan for over 100 years.

Our church began in 1922 under John Zuiderhook as Gospel Tabernacle on Harris Avenue. In the early fifties, under Pastor Richard Hill, the church was renamed Harris Avenue Baptist Church.

In 1961, George Dagley became pastor and led the church to purchase property and build a new facility on N. Cochran Avenue. In 1964, the church became organized as Calvary Baptist Church.

Much has changed over the last century, but our purpose has not.

Calvary Baptist Church exists to glorify God by making disciples. We seek to fulfill the Great Commission by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and helping others follow Him better.

Our desire is to impact the world beginning locally in Charlotte, then extending through church planting and support of mission efforts around the world.
